Figure of the Month
April 2006:
Jerry J. Jerrie (and Jose Garcia)
Correspondence between Fred Ketch and W.S. Berger about original Jerry J. Jerrie

FRED KETCH
with the original
"JERRY J. JERRIE"

This figure was made by me
in 1912 in Los Angeles, Calif.
The head was a paper mache
mixed with wood fiber,
Red crepe hair and
painted eyes.

We started out on our first
long tour out of Los Angeles, in
the fall of 1916.

We teamed up with EDITH
WILMA the summer of 1917 and
formed the act of KETCH & WILMA.

We played vaudeville until
June 1918 when I was called to
report for army service.

I left "Jerry" at my home in
Los Angeles when I went over seas
to Europe.

When I returned in 1919 I found
that he had been stolen. We were
never able to trace or capture the thief, and of course have no
knowledge of what became of the
original "JERRY J. JERRIE."

Taken in Boise, Idaho, on my first extended trip out of Los Angeles, Calif on December 2nd, 1916. at stage entrance just before doing my act.

Taken in Shreveport, La. in the spring of 1917. We were doing a specialty on a tabloid show which Edith Wilma later joined.
