Featured Figure:
Terry

Created by: Theodore Mack and Sons

Used by: Ray Conlin, Sr.

Trivia:
1. Terry was the first figure ever created by Charlie Mack, Theodore Mack's son. He was created for ventriloquist Ralph Connors, who later became Ray Conlin, Sr.
2. Terry was created by Mack in 1906.
3. Conlin used Terry as his principle figure from 1906 until 1915, at which point he was "retired" for a figure named Sparks.
4. When Conlin joined the U.S. Army in 1917 to fight in the first World War, he took Terry with him to entertain the troops. According to letters Conlin sent Berger, Terry "made many a dog face happy."
5. After the war, the figure was again put into storage until Conlin's son, Ray Conlin, Jr., began using him in 1924 at the age of four.
6. Conlin, Jr. used the figure from 1924 until 1939, at which point he was retired once again for another figure.
7. In 1942, however, Conlin, Jr. was drafted into the second World War, and he also took Terry with him.
8. According to Conlin, Sr., Terry was present at the Battle of the Bulge and landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day. Thus, Terry "saw action" in both World War I and World War II.
9. Upon the end of the war in 1945, Terry was again retired, and remained in retirement until he was sold to Vent Haven founder W.S. Berger in 1953.
10. Today Terry is on display in Building Three of the museum. He can be seen in Quicktime Virtual Pan Number 3. After the page loads, "turn" to look behind you. Terry is the first figure on the right in the second row (directly behind Shorty Jones).
